The GreenBox is ideal for pre-cultivation: It provides the perfect nursery for larger plants such as cucumbers, tomatoes, or dwarf sunflowers. These vital GreenBox inhabitants form a complex root system over time. Their water- and nutrient-sucking "feet" will soon have penetrated their PlantPlug to such an extent that it seems to consist only of roots. A good time to re-pot into a larger container.

Chilis, Cherry tomatoes & Co can be enjoyed for months. You want to start a new growth cycle, but your Rosemary is in good health? Move it to the PlantPot and make room for something new!

Of course, our light-loving plants are happy to spend the summer on the balcony. PlantPots enable the leap from the GreenBox into the open air: The dwarf sunflower in the PlantPot provides every balcony with warmth and good humour! Enchant your cocktails with the sun-ripened fruits of your outdoor wild strawberry.

Save yourself the trouble of dragging bags of soil! The PlantPots come with just as much soil as you need!

The lightweight, turf- and toxin-free soil mix is great for retaining and gradually releasing water and nutrients. Roots love this loose soil, whose air permeability we achieve with the admixture of coconut fibres. Enriched with mineral nutrients, it feeds your plants for the first 6 weeks, after which we recommend fertilizing.

The PlantPots set comes with our Magic Pen, which helps you keep your garden individual and organized. It fits so well on so many surfaces - like the GreenBox tray or the PlantPots. Name the plants (Latin names, cute nicknames - we'll leave that up to you 🙂 ), take notes, draw emojis - or remind your family to water. It's effortless and convenient to express yourself with the Magic Pen. And the best part? It's safe to use (for both people and plants), odorless and non-toxic. Just shake it well, press the tip a few times - and unleash the artist within.

2 ceramic pots with drainage hole at the bottom for drainage 2 drainage fleeces (to prevent the soil from escaping when the pots are filled) 2 coasters (impregnated so that no water penetrates) 2 PlantPot fillings with turf-free potting soil

1 Magic Pen

PlantPot - inner diameter: 12 cm, outer diameter: 13.4 cm; height: 11.6 cm
Saucer - outer diameter: 10.8 cm; height: 1.6 cm

Our terracotta PlantPots and coasters are made in Germany and consist of pollutant-free red clay. Because they are burnt, they can withstand moisture and are also suitable for outdoor use.

The potting soil is free of turf. Its light and water-retaining components consist partly of coconut fibres, a by-product of coconut processing.

Unfiltered tap water contains more or less lime. Through regular watering, a grey-white, harmless patina forms on many flowerpots over time. Since plants generally prefer water with less lime, we recommend low lime, filtered or boiled water for watering after it has cooled down (also residual water from the kettle).

Remove limescale deposits with home remedies: Place the PlantPot in a bath of 20 parts water and 1 part vinegar essence for 24 hours. Use a brush and sponge to remove limescale and dirt from the pot while it is still wet. Rinse the pot with clean water. That's it.

Prevent dirt deposits: If your PlantPot is placed on the balcony, it is not always possible to avoid the smallest particles of dirt being deposited on its surface. To prevent this, we recommend impregnating with linseed oil. Coat the clean, dry PlantPot with a little linseed oil and let it soak in. This impregnation will last for about a year and is best repeated when re-potting.

Planting the PlantPot

Place the drainage tile on top of the pour hole and fill the PlantPot with some PlantSoil, to a height of about 2 cm - so that the top of the root ball is just below the PlantPot rim.

Lift the plant and PlantPlug out of their slot by gently sliding the fork of your thumb and forefinger under the lowest leaves of the plant and gently grasping the base of the plant near the surface of the substrate. If the cone of roots and PlantPlug is very dry, place it briefly in a water bath so that it can absorb water.

Place the PlantPlug in the middle of the PlantPot with one hand. With the other hand, place the remaining PlantSoil in the spaces between the PlantPlug and PlantPot.

Press the PlantSoil down lightly and water generously. Done!

FAQ

The PlantPots are each provided with a drainage hole. This allows excess water to drain into the saucer if the PlantSoil does not absorb it. If water is regularly standing in the saucer, try watering less.

The PlantSoil is loose and can absorb water to a certain extent. Before watering, feel with your finger below the surface of the soil to see if the soil is wetter than expected. If in doubt, water a little less. Plants usually die because they get too much water, not too little.

Because of their permeability, unglazed clay pots protect the root ball of a plant from waterlogging better than glazed or otherwise sealed pots. As a natural product, clay reacts with water and soil, which can result in this white coating.

Water from the tap contains lime. The water portion evaporates from the water that comes out of the pot walls. However, lime and fertilizer minerals do not evaporate, but settle on the clay surface over time. So, if the coating on your pot is not furry and fluffy, it is not a fungal infection but a mineral patina.

To reduce lime deposits and do your plants a favour, there are a few things you can do when watering:

Since plants generally prefer water with less lime, use low-lime, filtered or boiled water after it has cooled down (including water left over from the kettle). Try not to water more than necessary, because often plants do not get sick because they get too little water, but because they get too much.

Mineral patina can be removed with a bath of water and vinegar essence, see PlantPots - Cleaning.

No! First proceed as described in PlantPot – Cleaning. Let the pot dry out completely. Then place it in the oven at 200°C for 15 minutes. This will kill all germs and fungi. Remove any residue with a sponge and brush after it has cooled down, rinse with clear water and replant!
