Like other types of peas, sugar snap peas are one of the oldest cultivated plants and served as an important food source due to their high protein content.
Similar to beans, the whole pod of sugar snap peas, including the small seeds, is edible. As the name suggests, sugar snap peas have the highest sugar content.
Sugar snap peas are really good sources of vitamins. The vegetables are best supplied with vitamin K, vitamin C, beta-carotene and vitamin B1. 100 g of fresh sugar snap peas cover almost 50 percent of the average daily requirement with vitamin K and 25 percent with vitamin C.
Sowing: One seed per PlantPlug.
To ensure that they germinate as quickly as possible, the seeds can be left to soak in room temperature water for 24 hours beforehand.
Germination period: approx. 2 weeks.
Ideal room temperature: 20 - 30 °C.
Water requirement: need plenty of water.

From a size of 15 cm, we recommend climbing aids to ensure correct growth. Resilient neighboring plants can also be used for this purpose.
Sugar snap peas can be harvested as soon as the pods are tender, fresh green, translucent and the peas are still small. They should then be used relatively soon.
Caution: Yellowish discoloration or spots and dark areas indicate that the sugar snap peas are no longer fresh.
