An 8-pack of U-plates is already included in the package contents of the GreenBox.
The U-plates are designed to prevent the growth of algae and mould on the surface of the PlantPlug when it is moist and exposed to light.
The U-plates should be placed on the substrate surface after sowing and inserting the PlantPlugs into the planting sockets. The seeds still get enough light. It does not matter which side of the U-plate is facing up.
The U-discs should stay until the plant has formed enough leaves to overshadow the PlantPlug’s surface of its own. Then the U-discs can be removed.
